The Instituto de Investigación en Ciencias Ambientales de la Universidad de Zaragoza (The Institute of Research into Environmental Sciences of the University of Zaragoza, IUCA) was established in September 2008 in accordance with the special vocation of the University of Zaragoza to generate scientific knowledge that fosters sustainable development and pursues better conservation of the environment.
The IUCA is characterized by its markedly multidisciplinary nature. It is organized into research groups with a critical mass of top-quality researchers of recognized prestige at a national and international level. The groups are coordinated in five strategic areas, giving rise to substantial synergies in the pursuit of multidisciplinary activities.
Within its possibilities and always in accordance with scientific criteria of confirmed quality, the IUCA seeks to be a reference point for sustainable development, for the conservation of our planet, and for improving living conditions and fostering social progress
