A map from GEOT group (IUCA) awarded as the best one in the year.

The map entitled “The Spanish population during the 20th century and beyond”, has been  made by the Studies in Spatial Planning group (GEOT), from the Environmental Science Institute and coordinated by professor Ángel Pueyo Campos.

The scientific journal Journal of Maps has selected it as best map of the year for their high quality, diversity and innovation, and for its ability to synthesize large amount of demographic information through a careful cartographic design.

The map shows the evolution of the Spanish population from 1900 to 2011 at two levels: provincial and municipal levels.
