IUCA researchers organized the 9th International Workshop on Agglutinated Foraminifera

During the first week of September 2012 was held at the Department of Earth Sciences (Faculty of Science, UZ) the IWAF-9, 9th International Workshop on Agglutinated Foraminifera.

The worldwide leading experts presented the latest studies (taxonomy, ecology, evolution, stratigraphy and applications) on agglutinated foraminifera, a group of unicellular protists abundant in the fossil record and important applications for dating rocks, characterization of sediment deposition environments, and of great interest in petroleum geology.

This year they beat record of participation with respect to previous editions, with the assistance of 52 scientists from 19 countries on 4 continents. The conference consisted of three days of technical sessions followed by two days of scientific excursion.
