Discovered fossil footprints of the estegosauridos dinosaurs for first time in Europe

The research group AragosaurusIUCA of the University of Zaragoza discover fossilised footprints of estegosáuridos dinosaur from 145 million years ago for the first time in Europe.

The discovery was published in the scientific journal Geodiversitas. Researchers found fossilised footprints of the foot and hand of a small estgosáurido characterized by large dermal plates on its back and long tail spikes.

The great interest of the discovery is that they are the first ichnitas of estegosáurido from European Cretaceous. This finding demonstrates that these dinosaurs were alive 140 million years ago in the Peninsula Ibérica.
