«SCIENCE & PAST: MATERIALS CONSERVATION FOR A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT» – 4th Interdisciplinary Course

The course is focused on the development and use of new conservation techniques in order to preserve cultural heritage materials.

The lectures are addressed to students, researchers and professionals in chemistry, physics, geology, architecture, geography, archaeology, conservation science, art, etc., to acquire a solid knowledge on conservation sciences applied to the study, safeguarding and authentication of material heritage.

Program and activities will include topics on:

– Conservation techniques applied to ancient monuments

– Climate influence in the conservation of the cultural heritage

– Bio-activity and conservation

– Preservation of paleontological sites

– Ancient architectural structures and their safeguarding

– Analytical techniques for restoration and conservation of materials

– Conservation of contemporary-art materials

FINANCIAL SUPPORT:

Financial support will be given for a limited number of participants to cover travel expenses in full or partly. Applicants should send a letter to the organizing committee explaining the reasons for applying financial support and listing the possible expenses, together with his/her curriculum vitae and a supporting letter by his/her supervisor.
