Public Economics


The research group on Public Economics, located in Economy and Business Faculty, is a consolidated group qualified by the Aragon Government and it is formed by 15 researchers, including 11 permanent members of staff. In the context of environmental economy, the research activity focuses on the analysis of environmental tax, on the economic impact of environmental public policies and on the decentralized process of the provision of public service utilities in the environmental field.

Research Lines:
  • Economic analysis of taxation:

    • Normative and positive analysis of taxation, based on criteria of equity, efficiency and simplicity principles
  • Economic analysis of public policy:

    • Analysis of the intervention choices to achieve the public sector goals paying attention to their efficacy, their efficiency or their redistributive effects (this includes environmental policy)
  • Regional and local public economics:

    • Analysis of the territorial decentralization process of the power and relationship among the various government levels, especially treasury problems under fiscal federalism (this includes the provision of public service utilities in the environmental field).
